Former Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley has passed away on Saturday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was admitted on August 9 and kept under Intensive care since then. He was 66.
Jaitley was taken to the hospital due to breathlessness and uneasiness and was being treated by doctors in the department of nephrology, cardiology and respiratory at AIIMS. He was feeling stable after treatment last Friday an improvement was observed.
In September 2014, he underwent bariatric surgery and in May 2018, he was operated for renal transplant surgery at AIIMS and then was admitted in May 2019 for treatment.
Mr. Jaitley had many achievements to his credit. From spearheading India’s Indirect tax reforms to the introduction of a modern bankruptcy code, he also headed a drive to control shell companies used by tax evaders.
