He appealed to the citizens to increase the use of mother tongue and Hindi and equated with this with Gandhiji’s and Sardar Patel’s dream of one language for the country.

He also spoke about deteriorating condition of Hindi in an event in Delhi that “Today if you ask a Hindi-medium student to speak for 40 minutes in Hindi, he won’t be able to do so. There is so much influence of English on us that we cannot talk in Hindi without its help. School students should ask to speak in Hindi.” He pointed out that India was land of 122 languages and around 19,500 dialects. With influence of English we are losing our languages which are part of our culture. Mr. Shah said that Hindi should be taken to areas like law and science and technology.
