India’s first ever online condolence meet

India’s first ever Urdu writers-meet online for the condolence of the sad demise of the iconic poet and satirist ALLAMA ASRAR JAMAI.
The iconic Urdu satirist and poet par excellence Allama Asrar Jamai passed away on April 4, 2020. The writers and lovers of Urdu circle were en-grieved with this shocking news. In order to share their grieves, The Wings Foundation, a Delhi based organization, came up with the idea of meeting and sharing their sweet memories of Allama online through video conferencing.
Dr. Omair Manzar, from MAANU Lucknow, presided over this meet while Dr. Salman Faisal conducted the meeting since it began with the heart-hooking recitation of the holy Quraan by Dr. Shahnewaz Faiyyaz.
Dr. Moidur Rahman, an Urdu scholar from Aligarh Muslim University stated that Asrar saheb were among those poets who dedicated his whole life to the literary cause.
Dr. Khalid Mubashshir, from Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi, presented the condolence resolution on behalf of The Wings Foundation. He shed light on the totally different facet of his literary life and that was “satiric journalism”. Dr. Sami Ahmad, Dr. Noman Qaisar, Dr. Mohd. Moqim, Dr. Sajid Zaki Fehmi from Jamia Millia Islamia were among the attendees along with Dr. Abdus Sami from Banaras Hindu University, Dr. Alamuddin from Patna, Mr. Rehan Fazal from Champaran were among the noted Urdu scholars who shared their experiences and the beauty of Allama’s poetry.
In this meeting the proposal of preparing an anthology of Allama was passed and Dr. Omair Manzar proposed a committee to set under the aegis of The Wings Fundation, New Delhi.
Dr. Jawaid Hassan, the Gen. Secretary of The Wings, connected from Darbhanga, thanked all the participants. “We will come up with more national and international meets like this in future” said Dr. Anwarul Haque, the founder of the organization, hosting and coordinating the technical part of the meeting. All the participants talked about the outstanding and mufti-layered satire of Allama Asrar Jamai.
