The Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javedkar informed through a tweet that the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan is unanimously selected for the award. In his tweet he has tweeted that “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #Dadasaheb Phalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest congratulation to him.”
The actor was awarded with the Padma Shri in 1984. In 2001, he was feted with the Padma Bhushan, 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He was also conferred with France’s highest civilian honour, the Knight of the Legion of Honour, by the French Government in 2007 for his “exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond”.
Mr. Bachchan has been awarded many time for his outstanding performances for the movies, Agnipath, black, Paa and Piku.
The Bollywood actor famously called Big B is congratulated by Bollywood celebrities. The celebrities congratulated him through their tweets. The Vice President of India also congratulated him through his tweet.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award is one of the highest awards in India in the field of cinema. The Directorate of Film Festivals, set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, represents the honour at the National Film Awards ceremony annually.
